The number one cause of faster aging is stress on the body.
And there are many things that can cause this stress – nutrition (or lack thereof), lack of sleep, mental and emotional stress, lack of movement, toxic overload, and more.
Basically, what happens is your body doesn’t have the resources it needs to repair and clean up damaged biochemical pieces, so you end up working with faulty machinery.
This can lead to a host of different symptoms and just about every chronic disease known to man. On top of that, you end up looking and feeling 10 to 30 years older than you are.
Not cool.
When it comes down to it, aging starts on the inside.
If you’re thinking, “oh my goodness I think I have all of those things,” it’s okay! I used to be there, too.
I used to be the person that hated moving my body (and actually used exercise-induced asthma as an excuse not to), ate pretty much all processed foods, thought I could run the world on 5 hours of sleep, and didn’t really pay attention to what I put on or in my body.
My favorite Chinese proverb says
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
What that means is that it’s never too late to get started slowing down the aging process. You can start with just one thing. That’s what I did and now, after 5+ years I’m proud to say that I regularly incorporate all 10 of my anti-aging secrets into my life.
You can too, but first, let me share with you what my anti-aging secrets are.
Let’s go!
Top 10 Anti-Aging Secrets to Look and Feel Younger Every Day
Before I begin, I want to let you know that all of my anti-aging secrets are based on science and backed, not only by my own success, but by the success of my one-on-one clients as well.
Each secret plays an important role in lowering overall stress on the body as well as helping restore the resources it needs to heal, repair, and then thrive.
1. Eat whole food
Certain foods can contribute to inflammation, and thus the overall stress level of the body. So, if you want to prevent early aging, it’s best to avoid foods that cause inflammation.
I go in much more detail in another post. Click here to check out how to get started with this very important first step in your anti-aging journey.
2. Incorporate collagen every day
Collagen is part of what makes up the structure of your body, from joints to skin to hair and more. We naturally produce our own collagen, but this process starts slowing down after about the age of 25 (gasp).
Our ancestors got collagen through their diet, because they used animal bones to make broth. Bone broth has lots of wonderful nutrients, including collagen.
Some of us still do this today, but most of us do not. Therefore, we need to get our collagen from somewhere else.
My favorite company is Vital Proteins because it is known for its quality and taste.
I usually use the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides that are unflavored and simply put one scoop in a cup of tea every day. It dissolves very easily and actually does not have a taste.
Taking collagen daily can help:
- Reduce wrinkles and fine lines
- Improve skin elasticity and scars
- Improve cellulite and stretch marks
- Help repair joints
- Help heal leaky gut
- Boost metabolism
- Strengthen teeth and nails
- Help your body detoxify
This is one of the easiest anti-aging secrets to start right away. To get started, click here to check out Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides from my online dispensary.
3. Drink green tea
Tea in general, but green tea specifically, has so many nutrients that help the body with healing and repair that it had to have a spot on my anti-aging secrets list.
Since green tea has so little caffeine and has relaxing compounds that combat it, you can drink it as late and lunch time or early afternoon. I don’t recommend any later to be 100% sure caffeine won’t interfere with your sleep.
You can even put your scoop of collagen peptides in it for a double anti-aging whammy! P.S. That’s what I do.
Green tea is sold just about everywhere, but not all green tea is created equal.
First, the green tea I’m referring to here is the kind you steep yourself, not the kind that comes pre-made. These kinds are usually loaded with additives and come in plastic bottles that leach chemicals into the drink within about 2 minutes of bottling.
Second, some tea brands are more bitter than others. If you appreciate that taste, go for it. I, on the other hand, do not like it.
My favorite brand of green tea (and tea in general) is Republic of Tea. They have a long history of producing high quality tea without breaking the bank. Their Daily Green Tea is my go-to staple. Click here to check it out for yourself.
4. Prioritize sleep
We’ve all heard how important sleep is, but you may not have known that sleep is the time when your body repairs itself and makes many of the resources it needs for the next day. How are you supposed to continue thriving if you’re constantly behind on repairs and restocking?
I go in way more detail on sleep and how to make sure you get good sleep in another post. Click here to check it out.
5. Have a daily stress reduction strategy
Who doesn’t have stress in their lives these days?
While it’s good to have ways of working through the stress when it happens, it’s even better to also have a little time each day that you remind your body how to get out of “fight or flight” mode. Over time, doing this helps your body handle the stressors that come up better so you feel like you are less stressed, even if the amount of stressors you experience actually hasn’t changed.
I go into more detail on my top tips to reducing stress another post. Click here to check it out.
My preferred daily stress-reducing ritual is simply breathing deeply for 5 minutes. I like to listen to relaxing music during this time, especially because I do this at the end of my workout in the mornings.
My husband and I have a home gym, so I try to wear headphones while I do this so it doesn’t interrupt his workout and his workout doesn’t interrupt my relaxation time.
6. Schedule joy
You may be wondering what the heck that means.
All this is, is simply making the time to do something that brings you joy instead of sucking the life out of you. This also teaches your body how to respond to stress better, but isn’t always something you can do everyday and will most likely take longer than 5 minutes.
This could be going on a hike, visiting family, painting, having lunch with a friend, reading a book you’ve had your eye on for a while, or doing a new craft with your kids.
I love to decorate, so one of the things I like to schedule for myself is decorating or redecorating one part of my home. I mostly decorate with antiques and just love the homey feeling they give my house, especially because many of my first pieces came from my grandma.

7. Get and stay organized
Chaos is naturally stressful, so it makes sense that organization can alleviate some stress that we may not even be aware of.
I don’t just mean organization of your physical things, although those are very important. I also mean organization in your daily life and thoughts.
There are lots of ways to begin organizing your life, the most common being with to-do lists and planners. I incorporate both in my own life organization, as well as goal setting and working backwards to create weekly and daily goals.
I go more in-depth on many of these things in my post on 4 Best Ways To Get Organized. To get started organizing your life and home, I recommend reading this post first. Click here to go there now.

8. Move your body every day
Moving does so much good for the body it’s not even funny. And moving doesn’t have to mean formal exercise.
If you’re like me and enjoy working out, great! If not, no big deal. The goal is to move, no matter what that looks like.
The goal is to find something that you enjoy and that can be a part of your daily life.
For some people it’s lifting weights or running, for others it’s dancing, for others still its getting up every hour to do a lap around the cube farm (aka office).
Like I said, it doesn’t matter what it is, just that you’re moving. Sitting is the new smoking, and unfortunately that’s not a joke.
I go into more detail on the benefits of movement and how to get started in another post. Click here to go there now.
9. Use clean personal care products
Numbers 9 and 10 go hand in hand. Both are related to your body’s total toxic load, which if high can be very stressful on the body. I’ll go into what this is, why it’s important, and give you even more tips on how to lower it in another post coming soon.
Back to this anti-aging secret. Using whatever personal care products catches your eye might end up damaging your skin more than helping it.
The skin is a direct reflection of what is going on inside your body. So, if you struggle with acne, redness, uneven skin texture, rosacea, eczema, or even psoriasis, there is likely something disruptive going on inside you that your body doesn’t like.
More often than not, I find that it involves what you eat. However, what you put on your skin can either help or hurt how the rest of your body works.
That’s because what you put on your skin is absorbed into your bloodstream and distributed to the rest of the body. This goes for every chemical in your skincare products, makeup, hair care products, lotions, etc.
Did you know that the average American woman is exposed to over 200 chemicals before she leaves the house in the morning? Yikes!
Try to limit your number by using clean personal care products.
Some of my favorites are:
To check each out for yourself, simply click the name of the product. I’ve linked it here so you don’t have to go search for it.
If you have any questions on how I use each product, comment below or shoot me an email.

10. Use clean cleaning products
Again, let’s lower the total toxic load on the body.
I don’t know of anything in my house that I can’t get squeaky clean with some combination of vinegar, dish soap, baking soda, and essential oils plus a random natural ingredient here or there such as olive oil.
If sourced correctly, these products don’t contain laundry lists of chemicals that can cause your stress response to freak out.
Click on the links below to check out the exact cleaning products I use.
- Glass spray bottles
- Cleaning vinegar
- Baking soda
- DoTerra OnGuard Cleaner Concentrate
- DoTerra Lemon Essential oil

If you haven’t, no worries! Like I said earlier, while the best time to start was 20 years ago, the second best time is now.
